The project benefits residents of Rancho Viejo, Los Samanes, and the Canaan Project.
La Vega, Rep Dom.- About 2,400 people will benefit from the start of the land titling project in Rancho Viejo, La Vega province, where the Government seeks to guarantee legal security and improve the living conditions of families who for years have occupied homes and land without legal documents.
This project, executed by the Technical Executive Unit for Land Titling of the State (UTECT) and the Dominican Agrarian Institute (IAD), includes the delivery of 600 title certificates in a first stage.
When heading the launch event, the CEO of UTECT, Duarte Méndez Peña, highlighted the positive impact of the titling for the benefited families, ensuring that their lands will triple their value and that nobody will be able to dispossess them of the properties they have occupied for years.
“Today we begin the titling work on plots 364-A of Cadastral District 11, as well as on plots 21-A and 39 of Cadastral District 28, benefiting the residents of Rancho Viejo, Los Samanes and the Canaán Project, in this province of La Vega,” indicated Méndez Peña.
During the event, the official introduced surveyor Emilio Antonio Jones, who will be in charge of the parcel survey work. Likewise, he informed that the brigades will be duly identified with institutional clothing and their respective IDs.
With this project, the authorities seek not only to regularize land ownership, but also to boost the economic and social development of historically vulnerable communities. The titling work will be completely free, as the Government will assume all costs.

From her side, the provincial governor of La Vega, Luisa Jiménez, expressed her satisfaction with the beginning of the titling process in Rancho Viejo.
“This president has fulfilled the promise of titling thousands of people who for so many years waited for this opportunity. Today, a responsible, close, and committed government arrives to dignify every human being who lives in this land,” Jiménez pointed out.
He added that this action represents the fulfillment of a commitment to the women and men of this community.
“Whoever has a title knows that they can undertake many initiatives with their land, lot or housing, and that gives them peace of mind and a better quality of life,” said Cedeño. The launch event was held at the Club del Caserío de Rancho Viejo, La Vega, with the presence of the northern regional sub-director of UTECT, Santiago Caba; Cueto Basilio, national director of labor accident investigations of IDOPPRIL; as well as community leaders represented by the block of neighborhood councils. The blessing of the act was in charge of pastor Enríquez Elpidio Morillo, from the Evangelical Church of God. With this new project, the Dominican Government continues to advance towards the goals of the National Titling Plan, aimed at regularizing real estate ownership throughout the country, promoting social inclusion, legal security, and sustainable development for Dominican families.
