Lima.- The Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion, Freddy Solano, submitted his resignation from the position this Thursday, after being accused of alleged document forgery, just 19 days before the end of the government of the interim president of Peru, José María Balcázar.
Solano announced his decision on the social network X, where he shared a letter addressed to Balcázar, days after being accused in a journalistic report by the program Cuarto Poder of having presented a false employment certificate to access a public position, before becoming a minister.
The resigning official, who took office 40 days ago, said he had made the decision to submit his resignation convinced that “the interest of the country and the strength of our institutions must always be above any personal circumstance.”
He clarified that this decision “does not represent a step backward or a renunciation of my principles” and that he is withdrawing “with a clear conscience, head held high, and the satisfaction of having always acted with honesty, responsibility, and absolute respect for the law.”
In that sense, Solano added that he fully trusts that the truth will be clarified within the framework of due process.
“Those who know me know that my vocation for service does not depend on a position,” Solano expressed, and reiterated that he will continue working for the development of his country.
The journalistic report revealed that Solano submitted a 2017 employment certificate as legal head of a courier company, but his representatives informed the Ministry of Labor that the document was false.
With that employment certificate, Solano was appointed as head of the National Superintendency of Labor Inspection (Sunafil) in 2023, as reported by the Sunday program Cuarto Poder.
