Lima.– Three earthquakes of magnitude 4 shook the Piura region in northern Peru, bordering Ecuador, within an hour this Tuesday, with no casualties reported so far, and days after the seismic movements in the Andean region of Junín, which have left five dead.
According to the National Seismological Center, the first earthquake in Piura was recorded at 03:00 hours (08:00 GMT) with a magnitude of 4.9 and an epicenter 64 kilometers southwest of Sechura, in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of the province of the same name.
This movement had a depth of 24 kilometers and an intensity of III in Sechura.
The second report was at 03:02 hours (08:02 GMT) with a magnitude of 4 and an epicenter 61 kilometers southwest of Sechura, at a depth of 34 kilometers.
A third earthquake was reported at 03:45 hours (08:45 GMT) with a magnitude of 4.1 and the epicenter located 67 kilometers southwest of Sechura, at a depth of 23 kilometers.

The Directorate of Hydrography and Navigation of the Peruvian Navy ruled out that the 4.9 magnitude earthquake generated a tsunami on the Peruvian coast, which eliminated any potential alarm of this type, as indicated on its X social network account.
Since the epicenter has been at sea, no personal or material damage has been reported so far in Piura or the surrounding regions by local authorities.
Peruvian territory is in an area known as the Pacific Ring of Fire, where 80% of the world’s seismic activity occurs, and last July the Andean region of Junín suffered several earthquakes that left five dead and homes destroyed.
