Santo Domingo.– Amidst the glitz and spectacle of the All-Star Weekend of the National Basketball Association, Karl-Anthony Towns once again placed the Dominican flag at the center of the conversation. The stellar player highlighted, during Media Day, the impact that the Quisqueyan culture has had on his formation as an athlete, emphasizing the work ethic, passion, and the “quality over quantity” mentality that identifies Dominicans.

Towns will be part of “The World” team in the new USA vs. The World format of the 75th All-Star Game, proudly assuming the role of ambassador of the Dominican Republic on one of the most important stages of world basketball.
“It’s an honor to be in this position to show the next generation that it’s possible,” the player expressed, underlining his desire to share both his successes and his learnings to inspire young Dominican athletes to take the game and the country to new heights.
More than basketball
Although he was born in New Jersey, Towns has been consistent throughout his career in highlighting his Dominican roots. His commitment is not limited to words: the center maintains sports development initiatives in the country, including plans for a multi-sport complex in Santiago, focused on the training of young talents.
On the court, his performance continues to be solid, with averages close to 21 points per game, establishing himself as one of the most influential figures in the league. But off the court, his legacy is strengthened as a benchmark of identity and representation.
Champion in the Shooting Stars
During the All-Star weekend, Towns also celebrated the conquest of the Shooting Stars as part of Team Knicks, alongside Jalen Brunson, Allan Houston, and Rick Brunson, adding another symbolic achievement to his All-Star event history.
