SANTO DOMINGO. The Dominican Republic continued to expand its medal haul at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, by winning a total of nine medals this Wednesday, distributed into three silver and six bronze, to raise its production in the regional event to 57.

With these results, the national delegation accumulates 10 gold, 12 silver, and 35 bronze medals, figures that allow it to remain in fifth place in the overall medal table.

The silver medals came through rowing, trap shooting, and swimming, while the bronzes were contributed by racquetball, trap shooting, and swimming. In addition, the men’s and women’s beach volleyball teams secured their qualification for the quarterfinals.

Team silver and individual bronze in clay pigeon shooting

Trap shooting opened the day with a silver medal in the team trap event, thanks to the performance of Domingo Lorenzo, Eduardo Lorenzo, and Henry Tejeda, who hit 303 targets to finish in second place. Guatemala won the gold with a Central American record of 320 targets, while Venezuela took the bronze.

Later on, Eduardo Lorenzo returned to the podium after taking the bronze medal in the individual trap competition, after breaking 19 out of 25 targets in the final round.

Ignacio Vásquez and Wendy Simó add another silver for rowing

Rowing contributed once again to the Dominican medal count with the performance of Ignacio Vásquez and Wendy Simó, who won the silver medal in the mixed double sculls, recording a time of 7:07.14.

The event was dominated by the Mexican pair composed of Kenia Lechuga and Alexis López, while Venezuela completed the podium with the bronze medal.

Racquetball brings home four bronze medals

Racquetball had an outstanding day by adding four bronze medals for the Dominican delegation.

In men’s singles, Ramón de León reached third place after falling in the semifinals to the Mexican Eduardo Portillo.

In the women’s division, María Céspedes won the bronze after losing to the Mexican Alexandra Herrera.

The other two medals came in the doubles categories, with the pairs Luis Pérez and Junior Rodríguez, in men’s, and Alejandra Jiménez and María Jesús Céspedes, in women’s.

Beach volleyball advances to the quarterfinals

The Dominican beach volleyball pairs advanced to the quarterfinal round.

In the women’s category, Crismil Paniagua and Julibeth Payano finished the group stage undefeated with a 4-0 record, after defeating the Virgin Islands in straight sets and securing first place in Group A.

In the men’s category, Hayerling de Jesús and Óscar Martínez qualified with a 3-1 record and will compete this Thursday for their spot in the semifinals.

Javier Núñez and Josué Domínguez shine in the pool

Swimming also contributed two medals to the country.

Javier Núñez won the silver medal in the 100-meter freestyle, stopping the clock at 49.43 seconds, thus securing his second medal of the Games following the bronze obtained in the 50-meter freestyle.

For his part, Josué Domínguez took home the bronze medal in the 50-meter breaststroke, with a time of 27.93 seconds, to complete a positive day for Dominican swimming.

With this collective performance, the Dominican Republic continues to consolidate itself among the top delegations of the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, maintaining an upward pace in the fight for the regional medal table.
