INGLEWOOD, California.– Young Spanish forward Lamine Yamal assured that the Spanish national team is facing the decisive phase of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with confidence and stated that the team does not fear facing any opponent after advancing to the round of 16 with a resounding 3-0 victory over Austria.

Yamal, chosen as the Most Valuable Player of the match played in Los Angeles, highlighted the competitive mentality of the team led by Luis de la Fuente ahead of the next round of the tournament.
“The important moment is now because if you lose, you go home. No Spaniard wants that. We have to keep growing in every aspect, but we know the quality we have and we are not afraid of any national team,” the attacker expressed.

Spain will know its next opponent once the duel between Portugal and Croatia is decided. However, the FC Barcelona winger made it clear that the name of the adversary does not change the team’s preparation.
“I don’t care. Croatia or Portugal. It would be an honor to play against Cristiano Ronaldo, but I don’t care who the opponent is,” he pointed out.
The footballer also revealed that he is now fully recovered from the injury with which he began the World Cup training camp and assured that he is ready to contribute to the maximum in the knockout stage.
