Teresópolis, Brazil. – Brazilian forward Neymar did not participate this Wednesday in the first training session of the Brazilian national team and was transferred to a clinic in Teresópolis for additional tests, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) reported.
The Santos attacker, called up by coach Carlo Ancelotti to play in the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, arrived at the Granja Comary training center along with the rest of the players called up, but later was absent from the afternoon practice.
In a statement, the CBF explained that the player was taken to a clinic in the city for additional medical evaluations, although it did not offer details on the extent of the player’s physical condition.
Neymar has been dealing with discomfort since May 17th, when he suffered edema in the calf region during a Brasileirao match with Santos. Subsequently, the club’s medical department indicated that the attacker had a small injury in the calf, although they hoped he would arrive in optimal condition for the Canarinha’s training camp.
The situation has generated uncertainty regarding the physical condition of the number 10, who has not played with the senior national team since the serious knee injury suffered in October 2023.
