Paris (EFE).- Former French football star and ex-UEFA president Michel Platini filed a complaint against the current FIFA president and his former right-hand man at UEFA, Gianni Infantino, for “influence peddling,” “criminal conspiracy to file a malicious complaint,” and “malicious complaint.”

The legal action, filed on Monday in France, is in the hands of the coordinator of the Paris investigating judges, which will automatically trigger the appointment of an investigating judge for this case, as reported this Tuesday by ‘L’Équipe’.
Civil procedure “for liability against FIFA”
In parallel, Platini has also initiated civil proceedings “for liability against FIFA” before the Marseille court, in which he is seeking compensation based on what he would have earned as president of FIFA.
The former UEFA president (2007-2015) accuses Infantino, who was his right-hand man at the European governing body, of having been behind a plot to prevent him from becoming FIFA president in the 2015 elections.
Platini’s withdrawal from FIFA
Platini had to withdraw from the race for world football’s governing body in favor of Infantino after FIFA deemed he had violated the entity’s code of ethics upon being accused of accepting 2 million Swiss francs from outgoing FIFA president Joseph Blatter.
In this corruption case, however, the legendary French footballer, three-time Ballon d’Or winner, was definitively acquitted by the Swiss justice system in March 2025.
The complaint filed by Platini also covers Marco Villiger, former director of legal services for the International Federation, and Domenico Scala, former chairman of FIFA’s audit and compliance committee, whom the former European football star also accuses of having contributed to his downfall.
