Air Europa signs with Airbus the contract for up to 40 units of its A350-900 model
Madrid. – Air Europa has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Airbus for the acquisition of up to 40 A350-900 aircraft. The agreement, which has been led by Javier Hidalgo and was announced during the Dubai Airshow, is the backbone of the airline’s long-haul fleet renewal.
The arrival of the A350 will accelerate the updating of said fleet and boost its profitable growth in key Latin American markets thanks to the unparalleled performance and savings provided by this model. Passengers will also enjoy exceptional comfort on board.
“This order marks a strategic milestone in the development of Air Europa’s fleet, as it accelerates its profitable growth by renewing the current wide-body units,” said Juan José Hidalgo, Chairman of Air Europa. “The A350-900 represents a revolutionary change for key destinations in Latin America. It offers an exceptional cabin experience and the operational performance and economy needed to expand the airline’s network without concessions, providing the highest standards in air transport.”

The A350 is the world’s most modern wide-body aircraft, designed to fly up to 9,700 nautical miles or 18,000 kilometers non-stop, setting new standards for intercontinental travel. Its latest-generation Rolls-Royce engines and the use of lightweight materials provide the advantage of reducing fuel consumption by 25%, as well as operating costs and carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions compared to competing aircraft of the previous generation. Like all Airbus aircraft, the A350 can operate with up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in its tanks. Airbus aims for its aircraft to be able to operate with up to 100% SAF by 2030.
At the end of October 2025, the A350 family had already obtained more than 1,400 orders from 64 customers worldwide.
