Santo Domingo.– The color, tradition, and cultural energy marked the 2026 National District Carnival Parade, where thousands of capital residents and visitors enjoyed a day filled with creativity, identity, and Dominican pride.
One of the most relevant aspects was the presence of boys and girls aged between 2 and 17 years old, in troupes that paraded dressed in fantasy costumes, guaranteeing the generational change of one of the most important cultural manifestations in the country.
Parents and family members enthusiastically accompanied each presentation, turning the activity into a family celebration.
Among the traditional characters, the imposing Diablos Cojuelos stood out, with their showy masks and multicolored costumes, who paraded down George Washington Avenue to the rhythm of music and bladders.
The emblematic figure of Roba la Gallina also made its presence felt, with its wide dresses, striking makeup, and its characteristic popular dance.
Likewise, various cultural expressions linked to popular religiosity, such as manifestations of Santería, were part of the parade, showcasing the diversity and spiritual richness that influences Dominican carnival traditions.
Likewise, Ali Baba troupes, a representation of the Mirabal Sisters, Ventorrillos, animals and fictional characters like the Chupacabra, have paraded along George Washington Avenue, between the Female and Male Obelisks.
