Domicem and Habitat for Humanity renewed their alliance to develop a social impact project in the regional initiative “100 Thousand Homes to Play”, focused on communities in Sabana Grande de Palenque, San Cristóbal.

With this action, the quality of life of around 100 people will improve, by replacing dirt or damaged floors with polished concrete.

This is a durable and hygienic solution that provides safer, healthier, and more dignified living conditions. The project is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoting progressive access to adequate and resilient housing.

The initiative is driven regionally by Habitat for Humanity Latin America in collaboration with the Inter-American Cement Federation (Ficem), and is supported by the local partner Dominican Association of Portland Cement Producers (Adocem).

“It’s a clear example of how the union of efforts can transform lives. At Habitat for Humanity Dominican Republic, we work for the right of every person to live in adequate housing, and this alliance will allow us to continue the positive impact on more families who need a safe and healthy home,” said Cesarina Fabián, national director of the organization.

The beneficiary families will be selected based on criteria of social vulnerability and housing need, to ensure that aid reaches those who need it most. Beyond the physical improvement in the houses, the project has a direct impact on health, safety, self-esteem, cognitive development in children, the reduction of diseases and promotes community cohesion and local economic development.

Meanwhile, Adriano Brunetti, CEO of Domicem, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the sustainable development of communities:

“This project is part of our corporate social responsibility actions, where the well-being of people will always be a priority. This initiative not only improves the living conditions of the beneficiary families, but also strengthens the social fabric of our community of Sabana Grande de Palenque. For Domicem, economic growth and the construction of a more just and sustainable society are inseparable concepts.”
