Monte Plata. – The Ministry of Defense (MIDE) and the Central Armed Forces Teaching University Hospital (HUDCFFAA) carried out an extensive medical operation and civic-social outreach program at the Gregorio Luperón School in Bayaguana, for the benefit of active-duty military personnel, retirees, their families, and members of the community in this municipality.
Through the Armed Forces Retirement and Pension Fund Board (JRFPFFAA), the event was carried out under the supervision of Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, ERD., Minister of Defense.
During the development of the activity, the Minister of Defense highlighted: “These sessions are part of an institutional proximity policy to foster the improvement of the quality of life of all Dominicans every day, and we are carrying them out every week in each province of the national territory.”
Likewise, he highlighted that these types of operations are aligned with the strategic axes of the Ministry of Defense, focused on contributing to social development, community health, and direct attention to vulnerable sectors, in compliance with the constitutional mission of the Armed Forces.
Lieutenant General Fernández Onofre, ERD., thanked the Retirement Board, the Central Hospital of the Armed Forces, the National Health Service, Economic Kitchens, COMIPOL, Civil Defense, and all the institutions that provide medical care, social support, and comprehensive assistance to active-duty military personnel, retirees, their families, and citizens in general.

During the day, Rafaela Javier Gomera, governor of the province, expressed her gratitude on behalf of the community, valuing the direct impact of these initiatives in favor of the population.
“These actions bring health, hope, and support to those who need it most, strengthening the bond between institutions and the citizenry.”
The operation included specialized medical consultations in general medicine, cardiology, pediatrics, general surgery, gynecology, urology, dentistry, dermatology, orthopedics, internal medicine, ophthalmology, gastroenterology, and neurology, as well as the free distribution of medications.
Similarly, complementary services were offered such as pharmacy, breast and prostate sonograms, mammograms, dental prostheses, barbershop, delivery of glasses, fumigation, SeNaSa registration and card issuance, as well as the donation of support devices, maternity kits for pregnant women and the elderly, wheelchairs, crutches, and canes.

This initiative directly benefited more than a thousand people, including active-duty military personnel, retirees, their families, and community members of Bayaguana, marking a path of commitment by the Ministry of Defense, the Retirement Board, and allied institutions to continue promoting actions that strengthen health, social inclusion, and support for communities throughout the national territory.
