Washington.- U.S. President Donald Trump announced this Thursday that the Peace Board reached an agreement for the “total disarmament” of Hamas and other Palestinian armed groups in Gaza, a step he described as “historic” toward the creation of a new government in the enclave.

Trump stated on his Truth Social account that the agreement will be carried out in “carefully structured phases” and that, once disarmament is complete, “Israeli forces will withdraw” while an International Stabilization Force will work alongside a new Palestinian police force to ensure the security of Gaza.

The Republican assured that the agreement will allow Gaza to remain under the control of “a new Palestinian government” and also thanked the mediation efforts of Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, as well as the work of his negotiating team to reach the pact.

For months, Hamas delayed talks, refused to lay down its arms, and attempted to unilaterally transfer control to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza without disarming.

According to the specialized media outlet Axios, external pressure and the growing economic crisis in the Strip, for which they hold Hamas responsible, have reportedly led the group to accept the disarmament announced this Thursday by Trump.

The U.S. president described this agreement as an “important milestone” for the implementation of his 20-point plan for Gaza, presented on September 29, 2025, alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a roadmap to end the war, release the hostages, establish a security framework for Israel, and move toward a technocratic Palestinian administration in the enclave.

The plan included, among other points, the disarmament of Hamas, the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces, and the creation of an international oversight structure for the reconstruction and governance of Gaza.
