Luis Abinader assured this Monday that he expects a thorough investigation and justice in the case of the five people who died at the hands of agents of the
National Police in the
La Barranquita sector, in Santiago.
“The Public Ministry must investigate and do justice, and that is what we expect,” declared the president during the meeting
LA Semanal con la Prensa, held within the framework of the third stage of the Gurabo stream sanitation project.

Abinader reiterated that his government does not intervene in judicial processes and recalled that the independence of the Public Ministry is an achievement that society demanded for years: “Today we have a Public Ministry far from political influence”, he said.
In response to journalists’ concerns during
LA Semanal this Monday, President
Luis Abinader announced that the
Santiago Police will have its own headquarters, ending more than a decade of operations in makeshift barracks since 2014.
The president announced that construction could begin next year, although he did not specify whether the project is already included in the national budget.
