Santo Domingo.- The Executive Branch authorized the extradition to the United States of Dominican citizen Carlos Pisandro Peña Tejada, also identified as Bertinio Emilio Peguero and known by the alias “Papa”, who is wanted by the U.S. justice system for alleged crimes linked to drug trafficking.
The measure was ordered by President Luis Abinader through Decree 365-26, in response to a request submitted by that country’s authorities within the framework of the judicial cooperation agreements in force between both nations.
As established by the decree, the surrender of the accused will be carried out in accordance with the corresponding legal procedures and in compliance with the international commitments assumed by the Dominican Republic to combat transnational organized crime.

Peña Tejada will have to answer to U.S. courts on several charges related to illicit drug trafficking, in accordance with the requirements formulated by the judicial authorities of that nation.
The provision is part of the collaborative actions between the Dominican Republic and the United States regarding security and the prosecution of crimes linked to drug trafficking and other international criminal activities.
