Santo Domingo.– The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) reported this Tuesday the death of migration agent Snayder Almánzar Mena, 20 years old, who remained admitted to the Central Hospital of the Armed Forces after being seriously injured in a traffic accident that occurred early last Sunday, May 31, in the National District.
According to the institution, the accident occurred at the intersection of Jiménez Moya and Independencia avenues, when a mixed patrol composed of DGM agents and members of the Armed Forces was heading to begin immigration interdiction tasks.
According to the preliminary report, a white Porsche vehicle carrying three people was traveling at high speed down Jiménez Moya Avenue in a north-to-south direction and, upon reaching the intersection, allegedly ran a red light, striking a General Directorate of Migration van.
The patrol was composed of six immigration agents and five members of the Dominican Republic Army. As a result of the collision, two DGM agents and four military personnel were injured, in addition to Almánzar Mena, who suffered severe traumatic brain injury.
The affected individuals were assisted by units of the 911 National Emergency and Security Care System and transported to various health centers. Almánzar Mena underwent cranial surgery, but subsequently passed away due to the injuries sustained.

The DGM indicated that the young man belonged to the third class of migration agents, which graduated in 2025.
Likewise, he reported that the driver of the vehicle involved was subjected to a breathalyzer test, which tested positive. The man remains in custody while investigations and the corresponding judicial process proceed.

The institution also indicated that one of the wounded soldiers remains admitted to the Central Hospital of the Armed Forces awaiting a surgical intervention.
The General Directorate of Migration expressed its condolences to the relatives of the deceased agent and deeply regretted the loss, describing it as a painful and irreparable situation for the entire institution.
