Santo Domingo.-At the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, a court declared the forfeiture of three vehicles seized last year in the La Penda community, in La Vega, while they were being used to transport contraband cigarettes.
n” “nWith the decision of the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal of the Judicial Department of La Vega ordering the handover of the vehicles to the State, the Dominican Republic obtains the first asset forfeiture ruling following the entry into force of Law 340-22 and the creation of the Asset Forfeiture Unit by the Superior Council of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, presided over by Deputy Attorney General Yeni Berenice Reynoso.
n” “nThe Public Ministry, represented by the Asset Forfeiture Unit together with the Regional Prosecutor’s Office of La Vega, demonstrated during the process that the three vehicles were used for the transport of illicit products.
n” “nThe ruling orders the delivery to the Dominican State of two Mack brand trucks and one EICHER, models MS300P and PRO3008G, blue and white in color, manufactured in 1996 and 2021. Also, the delivery of the Toyota brand minibus, model Town ACE, from the year 2019.
