Santiago de los Caballeros.– The City Hall of Santiago de los Caballeros formally delivered this Monday the road solution at the intersection of República de Argentina Avenue and Salvador Estrella Sadhalá Avenue, a project that leaves the road widened with an additional lane and underground electrical wiring, thus improving safety and traffic flow in the area.
Upon delivering the project, Mayor Ulises Rodríguez highlighted that the intervention represents an important step in the transformation of Santiago’s urban mobility, by integrating modern infrastructure, drainage solutions, universal accessibility, and road safety improvements, reaffirming the municipal administration’s commitment to a more organized, safe, and functional city for everyone.
He thanked the Dominican Girl Scouts for the donation of the land that made the execution of this project possible, highlighting that their contribution constitutes a valuable gesture of commitment to urban development, the modernization of Santiago de los Caballeros, and the well-being of the entire community.
“This work reflects our vision of building a more modern, accessible, and safe city. Every intervention we carry out seeks to improve the quality of life for citizens, strengthen urban mobility, and recover public spaces with quality infrastructure that responds to the needs of Santiago,” expressed Mayor Ulises Rodríguez.

Margarita Moscoso, representing the Dominican Girl Scouts, expressed her gratitude to the Santiago City Hall for the execution of the road solution at the intersection of República de Argentina and Estrella Sadhalá avenues, highlighting the institution’s pride in having contributed with the donation of the land for a project that improves mobility and benefits the entire community.

Likewise, she valued the improvements made to the National Girl Scout House and reiterated the organization’s commitment to continue training girls and young women under the motto “Always ready to serve”.
The road solution consisted of the integration of an express lane with a right turn in the east-west direction and an intersection equipped with an intelligent traffic light control system, an intervention designed to streamline traffic and improve road safety at one of the points with the highest vehicular flow in Santiago.
As part of the agreement derived from the land donation made by the Dominican Girl Scouts to make the construction of the express lane possible, the Santiago City Hall executed an extensive renovation program for their facilities, which included the rehabilitation of the bathrooms, the landscaping of green areas, the repair of the sports court, general painting, window replacement, construction of a perimeter fence, and the creation of a mural that highlights the history of the Girl Scouts in the Dominican Republic.

The work, executed under the supervision of the Municipal Public Works Directorate, comprised an intervention of 124.03 square meters, which included the construction of a new 3.25-meter-wide lane, a perimeter wall, polished curbs, reinforced concrete sidewalks, and the placement of more than 150 square meters of hot asphalt carpet. In addition, ironwork, landscaping, mural painting, and the undergrounding of electrical lines were carried out, contributing to the beautification and modernization of the urban environment.
The project also incorporated important mobility and road safety solutions, with the construction and rehabilitation of the storm drainage system, accessible ramps with tactile surfaces, the application of more than 1,000 linear meters of thermoplastic paint, the installation of concrete lane separators, and road studs to delineate pedestrian and turning zones. These actions strengthen vehicular and pedestrian circulation, improve accessibility, and promote safer and more orderly traffic on Estrella Sadhalá Avenue.
The event was attended by Cholo D’Óleo, president of the Council of Councilors, and a commission of councilors; the secretary general, Arismendi Dajer, as well as Ana Margarita Haché Álvarez, Mauricio Haché Álvarez, and Raymundo Haché Álvarez, descendants of Doña Ana Antonia Álvarez de Haché, founder of the Dominican Girl Scouts; in addition to current board members Delia Duboq, Alice Hieronimus, Marina Aróstegui, and Mary Mueses, among other personalities.
