Santo Domingo.– Carmen Esmerlin Hernández reported that, following an incident that occurred last Friday at a prosecutor’s office while she was accompanying her daughter, her scooter was impounded by the authorities and, to date, it has not been returned to her.
According to her version, the situation originated after an argument with a secretary at the facility, who allegedly insulted her while she was talking to her daughter about a process related to renting a property.

The complainant stated that, after the verbal altercation, a security member and agents from the Central Directorate of Investigation (Dicrim) pursued her when she was already outside the prosecutor’s office and, in the midst of a struggle, seized the scooter she uses for her daily commute. Hernández stated that the vehicle remains impounded at the prosecutor’s office without an arrest warrant or any judicial process against her.
Likewise, he maintained that when attempting to recover the vehicle, family members were informed that Magistrate Dalgisa had warned that it would only be released if she went in person, and that she could even be arrested.

Furthermore, she reported that a magistrate allegedly stated that, due to the circulation of videos of the incident on social media, the scooter would be sent to the Palace of Justice if she did not apologize for what happened.
Carmen Esmerlin Hernández asked the authorities to review the case and order the return of her scooter, asserting that she uses it as her primary means of transportation to get to work and carry out her daily activities.
