Buenos Aires, Jun 21.- The president of Argentina, the far-right Javier Milei, was among the first to congratulate Abelardo de la Espriella, who according to preliminary results has won the presidential elections in Colombia.
n” “n“The lion and the tiger roar in Latin America,” wrote Milei on his social media in allusion to his nickname (lion) and that of the eventual Colombian president-elect (known as The Tiger), also a representative of the far-right.
n” “nMilei added: “I enormously congratulate @ABDSPRIELLA for his historic victory in Colombia. Today, the majority of Colombians chose the path of economic freedom, prosperity, relentless security, and saying ENOUGH to transnational organized crime and drug trafficking”.

“Freedom is advancing throughout Latin America and there is no turning back,” he concluded in his message, which as always he signed with the phrase “VIVA LA LIBERTAD CARAJO…!!!”.
By mentioning “la libertad avanza” (freedom advances), he refers to what he considers the rise of the far-right in Latin America, but also to the name of his party in Argentina.
n” “nDuring the Colombian electoral campaign, De la Espriella was compared by media and analysts to Milei, who imposed an ultraliberal and far-right government in Argentina to implement an economic shock and fiscal adjustment. The goal, according to his speech, is to pull the South American country out of crisis and make this country available for foreign investment.

De la Espriella won the presidential elections in Colombia this Sunday in the second round with 49.65% of the votes, a narrow lead of 245,738 votes (0.95%) over Iván Cepeda, according to the preliminary count prepared by the National Registry, which has tallied 99.65% of the ballots.
