Santo Domingo. The Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, announced this Wednesday the economic incentives that will be received by Dominican athletes who win medals at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, which will be held from July 24 to August 8, by order of President Luis Abinader.

Athletes in individual disciplines will receive RD$300,000 for a gold medal, RD$150,000 for silver, and RD$100,000 for bronze.
In team sports, the prizes will be RD$3.2 million for gold winners, RD$2.8 million for silver medalists, and RD$1.6 million for those who obtain bronze.
Likewise, coaches will be awarded RD$200,000 for a gold medal, RD$100,000 for silver, and RD$75,000 for bronze, in both individual and team sports.
National federations will also receive incentives: RD$700,000 for each gold medal, RD$600,000 for silver, and RD$400,000 for bronze obtained by their athletes.
Cruz explained that, in the cases of athletes and coaches who win more than one medal, the incentive will be awarded taking into account only the medal of highest value.

The official highlighted that these incentives reflect President Luis Abinader’s support for sports and the efforts of Dominican athletes and coaches.
During the event, the president of the National Athletes Commission, Luisito Pie, valued the increase in awards provided by the current administration of the Ministry of Sports.
The activity featured the participation of the president of the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD), Garibaldy Bautista; the president of the Santo Domingo 2026 Organizing Committee, José P. Monegro; the president of Centro Caribe Sports, Luis Mejía Oviedo; as well as Felipe Vicini, president of CRESO, COD directors, and representatives of the national sports federations.
The XXV Central American and Caribbean Games will bring together more than 6,000 athletes from 37 countries and territories, consolidating themselves as one of the main multi-sport events in the region.
