Santo Domingo.- The heavy rains recorded in different areas of the country keep meteorological alerts active in several provinces, due to the incidence of a trough and the passage of a tropical wave south of the Dominican Republic.
According to the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet), the most significant rainfall recorded over the last few hours has been concentrated in the southwest of the country and in sectors of Greater Santo Domingo, especially in West Santo Domingo and the extension of the Eastern Highway.

Meteorological authorities reported that new downpours are expected this afternoon accompanied by thunderstorms and wind gusts in Greater Santo Domingo and the National District, due to the interaction of both atmospheric phenomena.
Meanwhile, floods continue to affect various locations in the interior of the country, including Puerto Plata, Valverde, Montecristi, Espaillat, as well as communities in Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez, and Dajabón.
Although some provinces have experienced a reduction in alert levels, prevention agencies warn that the risk of flooding in rivers, streams, and creeks still persists, in addition to possible landslides in vulnerable areas.

Given this situation, the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET), urged the population to avoid crossing flooded areas or areas with high volumes of water, and reminded them of the importance of not throwing trash in streets and ravines, as this practice contributes to obstructing drainage systems and worsens flooding.
Authorities are maintaining constant monitoring of atmospheric conditions and recommend that citizens stay attentive to official bulletins issued by emergency agencies.
