Santiago.- The General Director of the Information and Defense of Social Security Affiliates (DIDA), Elías Báez de los Santos, stated that Santiago has experienced a significant transformation during the current government administration, while urging thousands of citizens to claim pending funds from the Pension Fund Administrators (AFP).
During his participation in the activities carried out at the Santiago Botanical Garden, where President Luis Abinader led a Council of Ministers, Báez de los Santos maintained that the province has received significant investments in infrastructure, the environment, drinking water, and public spaces.
“The government has made a real investment in Santiago. There are works such as the recovery of the Gurabo ravine, the construction of parks, roads, and aqueducts. Santiago demanded these investments for being the second most important city in the country and for the great contribution it makes to the national economy,” expressed the official.
Likewise, he valued the holding of the Council of Ministers in Santiago, noting that these types of meetings contribute to strengthening the ties between the authorities and the population.

“Traditionally, these councils were held in Santo Domingo. Bringing them to Santiago brings the Government closer to the people and allows citizens to feel more identified with the decisions that are made,” he stated.
On another note, the head of the DIDA took the opportunity to remind that the institution continues to provide assistance to social security system affiliates, especially in cases related to issues in clinics, hospitals, and other healthcare service providers.
Báez de los Santos also revealed that there are still more than seven thousand people with unclaimed funds in the AFPs, so he urged beneficiaries and family members to approach the institution to receive guidance.
“We continue to defend affiliates from abuses that may be committed by some service providers. We invite all citizens to remain attentive to their funds and to contact the DIDA in case of any situation,” he indicated.
The official recalled that the entity offers permanent assistance through its offices and the telephone line 809-472-1900, available to guide affiliates regarding their rights within the social security system.
