Santo Domingo.- Eduardo “Yayo” Sanz Lovatón decided to support the presidential aspirations of David Collado, leaving behind his own project to seek the presidential nomination of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) and adding his political structure to the current Minister of Tourism’s project.
The decision was communicated during a meeting held at 7:30 at night at the Radisson Hotel in Santo Domingo, where Sanz Lovatón arrived accompanied by members of his political commission to meet with Collado and leaders from both teams.
A source who was present at the meeting confirmed to De Último Minuto that Sanz Lovatón expressed to those in attendance his decision to support Collado’s presidential aspirations and to work alongside his political structure so that he may achieve the PRM presidential candidacy for the 2028 elections.
The source explained that around 30 deputies, senators, and political leaders from both structures participated in the meeting.
Collado is not yet the PRM’s presidential candidate. The Minister of Tourism aspires to obtain the nomination of the ruling party for the 2028 elections, in an internal process in which different figures from the party have expressed interest.

Sanz Lovatón had also developed his own presidential aspirations, so his decision to support Collado represents the integration of two political structures that until recently were promoting separate projects.

According to the source consulted by De Último Minuto, during the meeting Sanz Lovatón gave his team a clear political line: to support President Luis Abinader and, at the same time, work for Collado to obtain the PRM presidential candidacy.
“Defend Luis to win with David” was the slogan conveyed by Yayo during the meeting, according to the source who was present.
Among the leaders present from the Sanz Lovatón structure were Ignacio Aracena, Tammy Colón, Dilenia Santos, Miguel Arredondo, Miguel Boga, Adalgisa Abreu, Dio Astacio, Franklin Romero, Rafael Duluc “Cholitín”, Augusto Velázquez, Pedro Catrain, and Gloria Reyes, recently elected national Organization secretary of the PRM, among others.
Participating for Collado’s team were the Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz; deputy Aníbal Díaz; José Leonel “Neney” Cabrera; Stalin Alcántara and Víctor Pichardo, among other leaders.
Two structures join forces for 2028
The move consolidates the political rapprochement that Sanz Lovatón and Collado had been developing over the last few weeks and which became more evident during the process of renewing the internal authorities of the PRM.

With the decision communicated during the meeting, the political structure led by Sanz Lovatón now backs Collado’s aspirations, altering the internal landscape of the ruling party ahead of the future selection of its presidential candidate.
The meeting took place immediately after the PRM’s leadership renewal process and at a time when the different factions are beginning to define alliances and strategies with an eye on the 2028 presidential elections.
