Manny Machado on rotating with José Ramírez in the Classic: “The important thing is to win”

Santo Domingo.– Dominican star third baseman Manny Machado made it clear that his priority is the triumph of the national team in the upcoming 2026 World Baseball Classic, even if that means rotating with other star players.

During an interview with Paloma Almonte, from UCA Deportes, Machado revealed a conversation he had with Albert Pujols, manager of the Dominican team, in which he advocated for the inclusion of José Ramírez in the starting lineup:

“I told Albert (Pujols) that José (Ramírez) has to play. If we have to rotate, whatever, at the end of the day it’s about trying to win,” expressed the San Diego Padres player.

Machado was also asked about whether Dominican fans are working on possible lineups for the Classic:

“It’s difficult. I think it’s very difficult to set a lineup. Trying to do that is even more difficult when you have so much talent, so many future Hall of Famers. But at the end of the day, the most important thing is how we’re going to win every day,” he said.
