The sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines could not have been carried out without Western commands, declared Russian presidential advisor Nikolai Patrushev, pointing to the United Kingdom as the likely responsible party.
“Not all armed forces or secret services in the world have swimmers capable of carrying out an operation of this type competently and, more importantly, stealthily. One of the secret services capable of carrying out this task is the famous British Special Boat Service,” Patrushev wrote in an article for the Russian newspaper Kommersant published on Sunday.
The Russian presidential advisor recalled that it is “one of the oldest naval sabotage units, which became known during the Second World War.”
“British saboteurs became famous for their ability to carry out attacks using the simplest means, such as canoes and kayaks, which is why the service was named ‘boat service’. After the war, its fighters learned firsthand the experience of their former enemies, the Germans and, in particular, the Italians of the 10th MAS flotilla, whose veterans, it should be remembered, are suspected, not without reason, of being involved in the explosion of the Soviet battleship Novorossiysk,” he reasoned.
In this regard, Patrushev added that the West now “prefers not to remember that, literally, on the eve of the Nord Stream bombing, NATO naval maneuvers were carried out in this area of the Baltic.” “It should also be noted that the Ukrainians themselves arrested stated that the investigation being carried out against them aims to blame Ukraine and cover up the true organizers and participants of the attack, interested in increasing tensions in the Baltic,” he denounced.
“The series of strange incidents with submarine cables and Russian ships indicates that the West has seriously decided to up the ante, turning the Baltic Sea into the scene of an undeclared hybrid war,” concluded the presidential advisor.
Sabotage
On September 26, 2022, the pipelines were affected by powerful explosions in waters of the exclusive economic zones of Sweden and Denmark, after which gas leaks were detected in the sea. The authorities of several countries attributed what happened to a possible act of sabotage.
In 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that behind these attacks was someone “capable of technically organizing the explosions and who has already resorted to this type of sabotage.”
Furthermore, the renowned American journalist Seymour Hersh concluded in 2023 that the White House was behind the attack.
From Moscow, they denounce that the West ignores their proposals to initiate an impartial investigation into the sabotage and try to blame a common group of Ukrainian divers, despite the fact that an attack of such magnitude could not have been perpetrated by amateurs.
