The Kremlin acknowledged today that US President Donald Trump did not congratulate his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on the occasion of his 73rd birthday.
“No, there was no (congratulation),” said Dmitry Peskov, presidential spokesman, during his daily telephone press conference.
Putin, whose birthday was on the 7th, did personally congratulate Trump during a phone conversation on June 14th, when he turned 79 years old.
The US president said last week that he got along “very well” with the head of the Kremlin, although days later he suggested that “perhaps” he might have to talk to Russia about supplying long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.
Regarding this, Peskov also emphasized this Wednesday that it is unknown when the next contact between both leaders will take place.

Two weeks ago, Putin warned the U.S. against sending tomahawks, which would irreparably damage bilateral relations, but then the Kremlin supported the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to the American leader.
Moscow continues to be very careful about criticizing Trump, focusing all its criticism on the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, who will meet on Friday with the American leader, and the European countries.
Peskov today acknowledged the White House’s commitment to the peaceful settlement of the conflict and denied that Moscow is responsible for the current pause in negotiations with Kyiv.
