Santo Domingo.– With a little less than three months to go before the start of the 2026-2027 school year, the National Institute of Student Welfare (INABIE) reported that it has already completed 15% of the distribution of school supplies intended for students in the public education system, as part of the preparations to ensure that students have the necessary materials from the first day of classes.
The progress was announced by the institution’s executive director, Adolfo Pérez, during a delivery event held at the 10-07 Educational District of San Antonio de Guerra, where more than 10,500 students began receiving backpacks, uniforms, and school supplies that will be used during the upcoming school year.
Pérez highlighted that the program’s goal is to ensure equal opportunities for all students and alleviate the economic impact that preparing for the return to school represents for families.
“We work so that every child and adolescent receives their complete school kit in a timely manner from the first day of classes, ensuring equal opportunities and contributing to easing the economic burden on Dominican families,” the official expressed.

Nationwide, the initiative will benefit approximately 1.85 million students in the public education system and will have a direct impact on more than 1.4 million families. According to INABIE estimates, each school kit represents savings of between RD$3,864 and RD$5,433 per student, which provides significant relief for the economy of thousands of Dominican households.

The kits include a backpack, notebooks, pencils, drawing materials, rulers, and other essential learning supplies, as well as a complete uniform consisting of a polo shirt, pants, socks, and shoes. The supplies are distributed according to the specific needs of each educational level.
The institution explained that the distribution is carried out through a logistics process that begins at the INABIE warehouses, continues at collection centers set up in the educational districts, and culminates at the school sites, where principals receive the kits to deliver them directly to the students and their families.
In addition to its social impact, the program also contributes to strengthening the national economy through the hiring of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), as well as companies in the textile sector responsible for manufacturing uniforms and other school supplies.
