Public Prosecutor’s Office arrests mother and son linked to acts of gender-based and domestic violence

Santo Domingo.- During pursuit operations carried out in the course of an investigation into gender-based and domestic violence, the Public Prosecutor’s Office arrested a mother and her son after locating them in different operations conducted in Santo Domingo Norte and Monte Plata.

Berenis De León Torres de Santana was arrested on Juan Mejía street at the corner of 24 de Abril street, in the Monte Plata province, and, subsequently, her son Eudy Starlin Santana De León while he was at a shopping center on Jacobo Majluta avenue, in Santo Domingo Norte.

Both were being pursued for engaging in acts of violence and physical assault against Santana De León’s ex-partner.

The Fugitive, Rebel, and Convict Capture Unit (Ucaprec), led by prosecutor Andry De Los Santos, executed arrest warrant No. 973-2025-EMES-00117 against De León Torres and Santana De León.

Arrest warrant No. 2026-AJ0053898 was also executed against Santana De León, issued at the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office by Judge Leomar Cruz Quezada, of the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of Santo Domingo East.

Said order was issued against the defendant for violating articles 309, 309-1, 309-2, and 309-3 of the Dominican Penal Code, as amended by Law 24-97 on Gender and Domestic Violence.
During the operations, the defendant’s vehicle, a gray Hyundai Santa Fe, SE AWD (2020), was seized.
