Santiago. – The Electric Distribution Company of the North (EDENORTE Dominicana) reported that, as a result of the strong winds recorded on the afternoon of this Saturday, 28 electrical circuits were affected, which caused the interruption of service for approximately 130 thousand customers in different locations of the Cibao.
The institution specified that, despite the magnitude of the event, 90% of users maintain the electrical service normally throughout the region, thanks to the immediate response capacity of its technical teams.
Among the incidents caused by the rains and winds, EDENORTE highlighted the fall of a scaffold in the vicinity of Hispanoamericana Avenue, near the Thomén urbanization, in Santiago. The structure directly impacted three distribution poles, generating damage to the system and partial interruptions of service.
Technical brigades from the company immediately went to the site to remove the scaffolding and replace the affected poles, in order to restore service in the shortest possible time.
“Since the event occurred, our staff moved to the affected area and is already working intensely on the replacement of the equipment and the normalization of the electrical service,” the company communicated.

The company reminded that it maintains immediate attention protocols in the event of atmospheric emergencies and that users can report any incident through the telephone line and official digital platforms.
According to reports from the Emergency Operations Center (COE), during the afternoon, wind gusts accompanied by scattered showers were recorded in Santiago and other municipalities of the Cibao, generating minor situations in different communities.
