Sheinbaum meets with John E. Waldron, director of one of the largest banks in the world

The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, received John E. Waldron, president and chief operating officer of Goldman Sachs, accompanied by his work team, at the National Palace on August 11, 2026.

The meeting, announced by the president through her social media, revolved around the favorable perception the country has in international markets and the investment opportunities offered by the Mexico Plan.

The president accompanied the message with a photograph that shows the meeting, in which the Secretary of Finance, Edgar Amador Zamora, also participated:

“At the National Palace, I received the president and chief operating officer of Goldman Sachs, John E. Waldron, and his team; we talked about the favorable perception of our country in international markets and the good investment opportunities offered by the Mexico Plan”.

Goldman Sachs is considered one of the largest banks in the world, according to data consulted on their website, they have had a presence in Mexico since 1994, participating in these strategic services:

  • Investment banking
  • Mergers and acquisitions transactions
  • Debt and equity market operations

The bank maintains operations with local and international entities, as well as with the federal government and public institutions.

John E. Waldron is President and Chief Operating Officer, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc.; he also serves on the Goldman Sachs Management Committee and is co-chair of the firm’s Enterprise Risk Committee.
