Santa Cruz de Tenerife (EFE).- CD Tenerife player Maikel Mesa has been sentenced to eight months in prison and ordered to pay two fines totaling 1,200 euros for a crime of assault on an authority and a minor crime of injury, after confessing that he and two other people assaulted a judge and stole his mobile phone.

In addition to Mesa, two other men have been convicted, one of whom also for a minor crime of damage. All three have accepted the sentences imposed in a speedy trial held this Wednesday at the La Laguna courts, so the conviction is now final.

Regarding a woman also involved in the events, the provisional dismissal of the proceedings has been agreed upon.
The ruling states that on last Sunday night, the footballer and three other people approached the victim in an offensive manner, calling him a “shitty bald guy,” and when he confronted them about their behavior, they told him to leave, tapping him on the shoulder and one of them threatening him with the phrase: “watch out, I’m going to hit you.”
At one point, Maikel Mesa and another defendant held the victim and pinned him against the wall while the other man accompanying them headbutted him in the nose, and then the footballer punched him in the jaw.

The victim shouted that she was a judge so that they would stop their behavior, and one of the accused took her glasses and threw them on the ground. The woman who was with them picked them up, returned them to the victim, and told her to leave.
The ruling issued this Wednesday by the Instruction Court number 1 of the Court of First Instance of La Laguna also states that the victim, with the intention of knowing the identity of his attackers, followed them while calling 112.
“My name is lordship”
When they were going to remove their car from a parking lot in La Laguna where they had left it and, seeing that he was still recording them, they immobilized it again and stole his mobile phone, while asking him what his name was, to which the victim replied: “my name is your honor”.
One of the defendants shoved the judge, causing him to roll down the parking ramp, and although he insisted that they return his phone, even standing in front of the vehicle to try to detain them until the police arrived, he did not succeed.
Once they left the scene, they threw the mobile phone out of the vehicle window, which was later recovered by the La Laguna Local Police, but with damage to the screen and camera valued at 135 euros.

As a result of the assault, the victim, who according to the ruling is currently still in office, suffered erythema, erosion on the face and posterior trunk, pain in the nasal septum, bleeding from the nostrils, loss of skin integrity on the left side of the chin, back pain, and anxiety.
It also indicates the ruling that required initial assistance, with basic personal injury for temporary loss of quality of life of five days, without the possibility of persistent sequelae.
In addition to the prison sentences, each of the three convicted individuals has been fined 600 euros for each of the crimes committed.
Regarding civil liability, the three defendants must jointly and severally compensate the victim in the amount of 250 euros for the injuries, and one of them an additional 135 euros for the damage to the mobile phone. EFE
